Pre concert information
We invite you to a very special concert this spring. Sweet Music is a banquet of mouthwatering choral music and a feast of puddings! This unique evening celebrates all things delicious, and a full spread of puddings in the interval is included in your ticket price.
Feast your ears
For this concert, we’ve Magimixed up a programme that ranges from the smart and sublime to the playful and joyous.
- Bob Chilcott’s Fragments from His Dish: A witty and light-hearted choral cycle exploring our relationship with food. From a rhythmic description of a massive 18th-century pie to a jazzy setting of Ogden Nash’s ode to enjoyable eating, it reminds us that food is a gift to be shared, much like our buffet!
- Traditional classical: Elgar’s There is Sweet Music, Purcell’s If Music Be the Food of Love, and Gabrieli’s Dormiva Dolcemente.
- Madrigals: Including Sweet Suffolk Owl and Adieu Sweet Amaryllis.
- Modern favourites: From the magic of Pure Imagination to the rollicking Rhythm of Life and a spectacular Sweeney Todd Choral Medley.
Indulge your tastebuds
During our extended interval, we’ll be serving a mouthwatering spread of (mostly) home-made puddings. Tamesis has come up with the ultimate dessert wish list, from classic Victoria sponge, rich chocolate brownies and carrot cake to Eton mess, trifle, fruit crumble, cheesecake, and fresh fruit salad.
Help yourself to your favourite or pile your plate with a selection! Every spoonful is included in the ticket price. There will be delicious vegan and gluten-free options available, alongside wine and soft drinks.
Come for the beats and stay for the sweets… or vice versa, we don’t mind!
