The enforced pause is over! We’re delighted to invite you to our comeback choral concert, Blue Skies Ahead! As if it wasn’t enough that Tamesis is back in business, we are thrilled that special guests Indigo May will be sharing our programme on Saturday November 6th at Shiplake Memorial Hall.
Indigo May is a classical crossover vocal duo with at least one very familiar face and voice to Tamesis fans. Julie Kench partners with her former Swingle Singers colleague Meinir Ann Thomas in their professional act, where two blended soprano voices create one incredible sound. The duo captures the hearts of audiences with thrilling harmonies and a banquet of well-loved and new songs. Indigo May is excited to be in demand once again with leading cruise lines, as global travel begins to reopen… we’re very happy that they’ve found space in their itinerary for this joint concert. See and hear more from Indigo May on their website https://www.indigomayduo.com/.
As for Tamesis, we’re full of excitement and enthusiasm to be performing again. This concert reflects our hope and optimism for the future, as well as making reflective acknowledgment of challenging times that we’ve all endured.
From Rutter’s celebratory Birthday Madrigals, Labi Siffre’s Something inside so strong and (of course) Irving Berlin’s Blue Skies, to Bridge over Troubled Water, Burgon’s Ave Verum Corpus plus works by Lauridsen, Chilcott and Whitacre, Musical Director Louise has woven a programme that flows smoothly through some of our favourite repertoire, new and old. You’ll also hear the live premiere of the beautiful spiritual ‘Shenandoah’, arranged especially for Tamesis Chamber Choir during lockdown by talented local composer Andy Milburn.

This venue has strict limits on audience numbers to ensure comfort and good ventilation, so we recommend buying in advance to avoid disappointment. There will be an interval with refreshments and chance to mingle… or take a comfort break!
