We rehearse on a Monday evening at Christchurch, Reading from 7:30 until 9:45pm, with a short break in the middle for biscuits and chit-chat.
In a typical term there will be eight or nine Monday rehearsals at Christchurch, including a full run-through on the last Monday before the concert. We normally have a break from rehearsals in the summer, Christmas and Easter holiday periods, and in local half term weeks. On concert day we usually rehearse in the venue for 2-3 hours before the performance.
The rehearsal schedule is flexible depending on performing and recording engagements. Louise releases the year’s rehearsal programme in advance. Because there are so few rehearsals, relatively speaking, members must be able to commit to attend them all, barring exceptional circumstances. (We’re good, but we can’t afford to miss practice time when it’s already fairly compressed!)
